A groundbreaking film and a true contemporary classic, American Psycho is both a critique and an exploration of the greedy and hedonistic lives of a group of young and successful Wall Street executives. Mary Harron directs American Psycho (2000), based on Bret Easton Ellis’ novel. Dark comedy, romance, science fiction and suspense are smoothly blended in this unforgettable film. Something that I found particularly touching this time is the way in which sacrifice and love are intertwined in this temporal odyssey. Kelly masterfully combines the conflicts and insecurities of adolescence with the always riveting notion of time travel, while building complex and relatable characters.

I had seen Donnie Darko 20 years ago, and now that I re-watched it I enjoyed it even more, and of course it deserves a place in my list of the best 100 films ever.
